Auburn State Recreation Area

The Auburn State Recreation Area is part of the California State Parks system. It borders Placer County and El Dorado county and encompasses 40 miles of the North and Middle Forks of the American River Canyon. Recreation opportunities here include trail running, hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, camping, mountain biking, gold panning, horseback riding, road bicycling, and off-road motorcycle riding.

Do Report: Vandalism, Fire, Theft, Illegal mining, Illegal camping, Illegal dumping, OHV use in undesignated areas, Illegal trail building, Harassment or endangerment or injure to another person or animal.  Maximum speed for bicycles is 15 mph and 5 mph when passing hikers and horses and when approaching blind hills or curves.

This mother bear and her cubs were photographed recently as the new cubs explored their neighborhood inside the Auburn SRA.  Please remember to be respectful of their space and their desire for a peaceful existence by  moving quietly through their habitat.
